Planning your pet’s stay

A few helpful details before you plan

Review these common questions, then contact the boarding team to talk through your pet’s individual needs.

How do I know which boarding option to choose?

Start with your pet’s day-to-day needs. Private Care Boarding is for healthy or medically stable pets needing individualized care. Enhanced Medical Boarding is for medically stable pets needing closer monitoring or more hands-on support. Protective Isolation Boarding is for pets needing protective separation and enhanced infection-control precautions. Contact our team if you’re unsure which option fits.

Does taking medication mean my pet needs Enhanced Medical Boarding?

Not necessarily. Pets taking routine daily medication may be suited to Private Care Boarding. Pets requiring unusually frequent medications, time-sensitive medical treatments, or closer monitoring may need Enhanced Medical Boarding. A $5 daily medication-administration charge applies to any boarder receiving scheduled daily medication(s).

Are food and medication charges included in the nightly rate?

Applicable daily care charges are separate from the nightly boarding rate. House-food charges are added only when WAHB house food is needed. The medication-administration charge applies to boarders receiving scheduled daily medication(s).

What should I arrange before boarding?

Contact our boarding team to discuss your pet’s health, medications, food, and care needs. Review our Dog Boarding or Cat Boarding information and visit Your Visit for forms. Please confirm current boarding requirements with our team before your pet’s stay.

Private Care Boarding

Individualized boarding for healthy or medically stable pets.

For pets who benefit from a quieter environment, personal space, a predictable routine, or individualized handling, Private Care Boarding offers a thoughtful approach to their stay.

Best for:

  • Older or senior pets who benefit from a quieter environment.
  • Shy, anxious, reactive, or socially selective dogs.
  • Intact dogs or dogs who are not appropriate for group play.
  • Pets who prefer people and personal space.
  • Pets with stable chronic conditions or routine daily medication.
  • Pets who need a predictable routine, extra patience, or individualized handling.

Routine daily medication does not, by itself, mean a pet needs Enhanced Medical Boarding. Pets needing more frequent treatment or closer observation may be better suited to that option. Additional daily care charges may apply. See Additional Daily Charges.

Enhanced Medical Boarding

For medically stable pets needing closer monitoring or more hands-on support.

Some pets need more than a routine boarding stay. Enhanced Medical Boarding is designed for medically stable pets whose treatment, recovery, or daily care requires closer observation and additional support.

Best for:

  • Diabetic pets requiring insulin and closer monitoring.
  • Pets recovering from major surgery, including orthopedic procedures such as TPLO.
  • Pets with casts, splints, or significant mobility restrictions.
  • Pets wearing an E-collar who require closer supervision.
  • Pets with corneal ulcers or another condition requiring frequent treatment and monitoring.
  • Pets needing wound or bandage care.
  • Pets receiving unusually frequent medications or time-sensitive medical treatments.
  • Pets whose appetite, drinking, urination, stool, comfort, or mobility needs closer observation.
  • Pets with stable chronic conditions that may require veterinary involvement if something changes.

Contact our boarding team to discuss your pet’s medical needs and whether this option is appropriate. Additional daily care charges may apply. See Additional Daily Charges.
