At Wickham Animal Hospital & Boarding, we offer general boarding, medical boarding, daycare, and spa days. Whether they’re staying for a few hours or a few nights, our goal is to keep them safe, comfortable, and well cared for. Because our boarding facility is connected to our veterinary hospital, we’re able to accommodate healthy pets as well as some pets who need a little extra medical attention.
First Things First: Who Can Stay With Us
All pets boarding with us must be established patients of Wickham Animal Hospital and meet our current vaccination and parasite-prevention requirements.
This allows our team to have an established medical history and helps our team better understand your pet’s individual needs, which comes in handy if your pet decides your vacation is the perfect time to keep everyone on their toes!
General Boarding: The Classic Sleepover
General boarding is designed for healthy, established patients who just need a safe and comfortable place to stay while their humans are away. During their stay, our boarding team provides:
- Daily feeding and fresh water
- Routine walks, potty breaks, and daily care
- Administration of routine medications when appropriate
- Monitoring of appetite, bathroom habits, behavior, and overall well-being
- A clean and comfortable environment
- Access to our veterinary team if a medical concern develops
Basically, you enjoy your vacation while your pet enjoys their own little staycation.
Medical Boarding: A Little Extra TLC
Some pets need more care than traditional boarding can provide. Medical boarding is intended for pets with health conditions or treatment needs that require additional monitoring, medication, or veterinary oversight. Medical boarding may be appropriate for pets who:
- Have diabetes or require insulin injections
- Need multiple or time-sensitive medications
- Are recovering from surgery, illness, or injury
- Have mobility limitations or special handling needs
- Require closer monitoring of eating, drinking, urination, or bowel movements
- Have chronic medical conditions that need additional attention
- Require treatments or care beyond routine boarding services
All medical boarding must be approved by one of our doctors prior to your pet’s stay. This allows the doctor and our team to review your pet’s conditions, medications, and care requirements to make sure we can safely accommodate them.
Not every pet with a medical condition automatically requires medical boarding, and not every patient will be a candidate. We’ll help determine the safest and most appropriate option for your pet.
Daycare: Because Sometimes They Just Need a Day Out!
Not heading out of town? No problem! We also offer daycare for established patients who need a safe place to spend the day. Daycare is the perfect option for busy workdays, appointments, home projects, or those days when your furry sidekick just needs somewhere else to hang out.
You drop them off, handle your day, and pick them up later. No tiny suitcase required!
Spa Day, Anyone?
We also offer Spa Days, which can be scheduled on their own or added to boarding stays or daycare. Adding a Spa Day toward the end of their visit means your pet can come home clean, fresh, and ready for cuddles.
Who says humans are the only ones who deserve a little pampering?
Make Their Stay Even Better
Optional add-on packages are available for boarding and daycare guests who could use a little extra attention, activities, and TLC.
After all, if your vacation has upgrades, theirs should too!
The Benefits of Boarding at a Veterinary Hospital
One of the biggest benefits of boarding at a veterinary hospital is your peace of mind.
Pets apparently did not get the memo that medical problems should only happen when their owners are home. Vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, urinary issues, injuries, appetite changes, and other concerns can pop up unexpectedly. If our boarding team notices something that doesn’t seem right, they have the ability to communicate directly and quickly with our veterinary staff and determine whether your pet should be evaluated.
For pets with existing medical conditions, having veterinary professionals nearby can provide an additional level of support that usually isn’t available at a traditional boarding facility. Our goal is simple: keep your pet safe, comfortable, and well cared for until you’re back together again.
